Who is Steamer Duck Consulting?

Steamer Duck Consulting was set up to support charities and non-profit organisations to achieve their goals and visions in a way that works for those organisations, taking an approach that works with the organisation, rather than trying to dictate to them, in a language that everyone understands.

Steamer Duck Consulting’s approach is to empower an organisation in whatever it is that we are working on together, giving the organisation the confidence and ownership of its decisions and direction to deliver real value and benefit to further its missions, purpose, and public good.

Drawing on over a decade of experience in the charity and non-profit sector, Steamer Duck has seen and lived the good, the great, and the opportunities for improvement in organisational approaches, operations, and visions. This enables Steamer Duck to provide realistic and achievable guidance, advice, and solutions to its partners and clients.

Why the name?

Andrew, and his wife Elizabeth, spent their honeymoon on the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic, and were captivated by the wildlife, including the Falklands Steamer Duck. Quite simply, they think that Steamer Ducks are cool!

Why me?

I have spent the vast majority of my career in the charity and non-profit sector, supporting, managing and leading change projects and initiatives for a wide variety of organisations. I have a wealth of knowledge and experience from a number of different sources, and am excited that you are considering that I could be a good fit to help you in your next piece of work.

I have worked on projects across all aspects of an organisations operations from introducing new governance structures and incorporating new entities, to major IT changes and implementations and cultural changes. I have run events large and small, and have moved whole operating bases across land and sea.

I will use language that both you and I will understand – rather than using technical and practice specific terminology, I will ensure that there is no room for misinterpretation. I don’t believe in trying to impress with fancy words, I prefer to let the work speak for itself.

I’m not going to tell you what to do, but will work with you to understand why things are done in certain ways. Also, I’m not going to tell you what the end result of your project should look like – it’s your project, it is my job to make sure that it happens and meets the expectations of what you want it to look, feel, and do at the end of it all.

While the contract will be important for the work, if there are opportunities to add value above and beyond what has been initially agreed, this will always be proposed to you in a way that helps you to further embed what it is that we are delivering, or develop your personal and corporate knowledge.

To understand more about how we can help you, have a look at the services that we offer, and I look forward to hearing from you!
