Case Studies

The following are a few examples of the organisations we have supported, and work that we have carried out.

Digital Poverty Alliance
(formerly the Learning Foundation)

(2023 – Current)

Strategic Direction; Project Management Guidance; Project Management Staff Training; Website Rebuild; Staff Team Building Facilitation; Event Planning; Event Management

Andrew was engaged by the Digital Poverty Alliance shortly after the appointment of their current Chief Executive, at a time of significant change for the organisation. The Chief Executive was keen to lead the organisation in a new direction, taking the organisation through a rebrand, and focussing on delivering tangible and evidence led impact for the groups in society that the organisation was set up to help.

Standard models and processes for identifying and delivering operational and impact projects was introduced, aligned to linear project management disciplines; along with training for staff on project management, and requirements identification and prioritisation. Due to a reprioritisation of focus for the organisation, a new staff team was brought in to approach the new direction, with Andrew running off-site team building sessions for the staff to be able to approach the work together as a cohesive and effective group.

With the designation of 12th September as ‘End Digital Poverty Day’, Andrew worked with the team to identify and contract with unique venues in Greater London, providing support for events licences and legal and regulatory requirements around the sale of alcohol as a Personal Alcohol Licence holder. Having started out in the licenced trade, Andrew provided operational and practical support for the running of the event as well.

Following the critical failure of the organisations website, Andrew worked with the team to recreate the website on a stable platform, using standard out of the box, functionality at short notice, to enable the organisation to continue to function effectively online.

Wader Quest

(2021 – 2025)

Membership CRM Implementation (Beacon CRM); Website & E-Commerce Rebuild

Our work with Wader Quest has revolved around removing manual processes and developing automated activity in line with digital developments.  The first step of this was moving them from an online catalogue requiring email and manual payments to a WooCommerce based shop running through WordPress.  A couple of years later, we have now set up BeaconCRM, allowing automated memberships, an API with Xero to track orders and memberships, and establishing them on Microsoft 365 to utilise Outlook, Teams and SharePoint.

British Motorsport Marshals Club

(2023-2024)

Governance and Policy Review

A two phase project, beginning with a complete overhaul of the governing documents with the aim of modernising the documents, improving compliance and streamlining processes. The project included supporting a Working Group representing regional members. The second phase brought back this group to focus on creating a suite of policies and processes around key areas ranging from data protection to equality, ensuring policies were able to meet the needs of a non-profit, volunteer-led club. Elizabeth wrote the documentation, consulting on the values and behaviours that the BMMC wanted to codify into their ways of working.

Archbishops Palace Conservation Trust
(Otford Palace)

(2023)

Website Rebuild

Following ownership issues over the organisation’s website, we were engaged at short notice to rebuild and replicate the former website on a stable platform that the organisation owned and the senior volunteer team could access and update without needing to go through a third party.

Fair Game UK

(2022 – 2023)

Governance & Organisation Re-registration

Elizabeth supported Fair Game UK on their journey from a limited company by guarantee to a Community Interest Company (CIC).  Supporting overall governance in the early stages of the campaign, after incorporation, she developed a range of policies and a framework for their new Board and Council.  As the leadership team debated a more clearly non-profit structure, their legal advisers said that attaining CIC status would be difficult if not impossible.  Elizabeth worked with the FGUK team to clearly understand what they wanted to achieve, and after back-and-forth with the CIC Regulator, was successful in seeing the organisation re-registered with CIC status, opening them up to be able to apply for grant funding and leverage pro bono support.

British Interplanetary Society

(2020 – 2021)

Project & Change Management; Project Management Guidance; Project Management Staff Training; Website Rebuild; E-Commerce & Retail Strategy; Event Planning; Event Management; Income Diversification and Engagement Strategy

This work was supporting the newly appointed Chief Executive (the first for the organisation) in addressing the long-term sustainability of the organisation, and modernising the organisations operations, membership and stakeholder engagement strategy, and income streams.

The website, membership offer, and e-commerce platform were early priorities for the Chief Executive, improving the end user experience both for the external user, and the internal administrators. Andrew worked with her to set out key requirements, and provided the cost effective solution using ‘off the shelf’ products, negotiating deals where possible. This work was carried out in line with developing and implementing a diversified income strategy, offering out key spaces of the organisations premises for use to community groups, and letting out office space to small and start-up companies.

Events were another key area of focus coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic. Andrew worked with the Chief Executive and her team to plan and deliver the organisations annual conference and awards dinner at the Queen Elizabeth II Centre in Westminster, London; providing support on risk assessment and mitigation, contractor negotiations, and wider stakeholder engagement.
